Lawn Care Definitions
- Barricade – Barricade is a pre-emergent herbicide with active ingredient Prodiamine. Prodiamine is good for controlling annual season grasses, some broadleaf weeds, and much more! Pre-emergent control is the prevention of seed germination and/or seedling emergence.
- Iron – Iron is an important component of plant enzymes and proteins involved in respiration, nitrogen metabolism, and chlorophyll synthesis. Iron fertilizer is applied by turfgrass managers to enhance turf color without stimulating excessive leaf growth. Iron applications can produce darker green turf even when levels are adequate in plant tissues before applications are made.
- Merit® – Merit® is an insecticide using the active ingredient imidacloprid, good for controlling many root feeding insects, especially those nasty grubs.
- Nutri-sphere-N® – Nutri-sphere-N® is a proprietary nitrogen management tool that has been shown to prolong desired turf color up to eight weeks. It holds the nitrogen in the ammoniacal stage longer, and that makes it more readily available.
- Trimec – Trimec is a post-emergent herbicide with active ingredients 2,4-D Mecoprop-p and Dicamba, good for controlling broadleaf weeds. Post-emergent control is controlling (killing) a weed after the seed germinates, or after it has emerged.
